Blending Mango Milkshakes

Whether you are able to find mangoes of the South Asian or Southeast Asian variety, or from Central America, or from anywhere else in the world, there are plenty of benefits associated with this super-rich fruit.

Mangoes have a high concentration of antioxidants, and they can protect your cells against damage, as well as countering ageing, lowering the risk of certain cancers and other diseases. Many studies have found mangoes to give health benefits such as a healthier heart, better digestion, eyesight, and improved immunity.

A very popular drink is a Mango Milkshake. To make 1-2 glasses, you will need two ripe mangoes (approx. two cups of diced mangoes) with one cup (or one-and-a-half cups) of milk, one or two tablespoons of sugar (depending on your taste), and optionally a couple of ice cubes. You'll need to wash, peel, and cut up the mangoes and throw away the seed at the center. First, place the mango pieces at the bottom of your Blender jar (or Mini Blender jar), and then add milk, sugar, and some ice cubes (if desired). Then blend everything together until there are no mango pieces left and everything looks velvety. Then pour the shake into a serving glass to enjoy. If you want, you can add an assortment of nuts or raisins on top. You can easily substitute the milk with alternatives such as soy milk, almond milk, yogurt, etc.

Some individuals do need to be careful when consuming a large quantity of mangoes because of the increased calorie content; however, mangoes are a fibrous fruit with numerous health benefits. Also, for some sensitized individuals there may be irritation when mangoes come into contact with their skin.

Overall, mangoes are a delicious fruit that can easily be used for blending milkshakes, smoothies, or juices, as well as for cooking and garnishing. Mangoes can also be made into purees, chutneys, and pickles, and combined with many types of foods.
